Nigeria Visa Photo Size

Most Nigeria visa applications ask for the same photo specification as the Nigeria passport: exactly 35×45 mm at 300 DPI, plain white, saved as JPEG. This tool fits and checks your photo against that shared specification — always confirm the exact requirement on your specific visa form, since some visa categories occasionally differ from the passport standard.

Reference data, not legal advice. Head size, background color, lighting, and expression aren't checked automatically; that needs face-detection features this build doesn't include yet.

Corrected from an earlier 51×51mm (2×2in) figure, which turned out to be a US-convention mixup rather than a Nigerian one. 35×45mm is the best available consensus from photo-service sources referencing the NIS portal, but immigration.gov.ng itself publishes no technical photo spec — this remains unverified against an official page.

Nothing here yet — add photos above to get started.

Only helps if your background is already one plain color (e.g. a wall) — this is color-distance math, not real subject cutout, so it won't do anything useful against busy or textured backgrounds.

Frequently asked questions

What size does a Nigeria visa photo need to be?

exactly 35×45 mm at 300 DPI, plain white, saved as JPEG. See the requirements table above for the full breakdown.

What is the Nigeria visa photo size in pixels?

413×531 pixels at 300 DPI (35×45 mm). The tool sets this automatically from the DPI you choose.

What background does Nigeria require?

Plain white. Photograph against a plain wall or sheet in that color for the best result — the "flatten background to white" option in the tool can help clean up a close-but-not-perfect background too.

Can I use a phone photo for my Nigeria visa application?

Yes, as long as it's well-lit, in focus, and shot against a plain background you can crop tightly around.

Is there a file size limit for a Nigeria visa photo?

No published file size limit is listed for Nigeria in this reference set — check the destination site directly if your application enforces one.

How confident are you in this data?

Marked "commonly cited — verify" rather than "widely documented" in the requirements table above.
