How do I reduce a picture's size online?

Add your photo above, then either compress it to a smaller file size — by quality or an exact KB target — or resize its pixel dimensions. Everything runs in your browser and hands you the smaller image to download. No sign-up, no upload.

What's the difference between reducing file size and reducing image resolution?

File size (in KB or MB) is how much space the image takes up; resolution is its width and height in pixels. Compressing lowers the file size while keeping the same dimensions, whereas resizing lowers the resolution. You can do either — or both — here.

Will reducing the picture size lower its quality?

Only as much as you choose. Higher compression and smaller dimensions both trade some detail for a smaller file; a quality setting between 65 and 85 usually looks close to the original at a fraction of the size. Shrinking an oversized photo's dimensions is often visually lossless.

Is it free, and are my photos uploaded anywhere?
