Compress Image to 100KB

The tool below is already set to Max file size: 97 KB, so every photo you add comes out under 100KB — the size most often asked for by job portals, visa and scholarship applications, college admission forms, and email signatures. Add one photo or a batch, tap Process all, and download.

It finds the highest quality that still fits under the limit, and only reduces the pixel dimensions if quality alone can't get there. 100KB is roomy for a passport-style photo and tight for a full-resolution landscape shot — resize large photos to around 1200 px on the long side for the best-looking result. Everything runs in your browser; your photos are never uploaded.

Nothing here yet — add photos above to get started.

Only helps if your background is already one plain color (e.g. a wall) — this is color-distance math, not real subject cutout, so it won't do anything useful against busy or textured backgrounds.

How to compress an image to 100KB

  1. Tap the box above (or drag and drop) to add a photo — JPG, PNG, HEIC or WebP all work.
  2. Leave Max file size at 97 KB, and JPEG as the output format, which gives the smallest files for photos.
  3. If the form also gives exact pixel dimensions, set them under Resize → Exact.
  4. Tap Process all and download — the size shown under each photo is the final file size, under 100KB.

Frequently asked questions

How do I reduce a photo to exactly 100KB?

Add it above and tap Process all — the target is preset to 97 KB. The tool lands as close under the limit as it can at the best possible quality; hitting an exact byte count isn't needed, since upload forms only check the maximum.

Why is the target 97 KB and not 100 KB?

Some sites count 1KB as 1,000 bytes and others as 1,024. 97 KB (99,328 bytes) passes under either reading of 100KB. You can change the number in the settings panel if you know exactly how your site counts.

My photo still won't go under 100KB — what can I do?

Make sure the output format is JPEG or WebP: PNG is lossless and often can't reach small targets. For very small targets, also reduce the pixel dimensions under Resize. The tool already shrinks dimensions automatically as a last resort.

Will compressing to 100KB make my photo blurry?

Usually not at normal viewing sizes — the tool picks the highest quality that fits, and most photos look close to the original at this size.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. Compression runs entirely in your browser — your photos never leave your device. See the Privacy Policy.
