Compress Image to 50KB

The tool below is already set to Max file size: 48 KB, so every photo you add comes out under 50KB — the size most often asked for by IBPS, SSC and other exam photo uploads, job portals, online application forms, and profile pictures. Add one photo or a batch, tap Process all, and download.

It finds the highest quality that still fits under the limit, and only reduces the pixel dimensions if quality alone can't get there. Most passport-style photos fit under 50KB at around 400–600 px wide with almost no visible loss. Set an exact pixel size first if the form specifies one. Everything runs in your browser; your photos are never uploaded.

Nothing here yet — add photos above to get started.

Only helps if your background is already one plain color (e.g. a wall) — this is color-distance math, not real subject cutout, so it won't do anything useful against busy or textured backgrounds.

How to compress an image to 50KB

  1. Tap the box above (or drag and drop) to add a photo — JPG, PNG, HEIC or WebP all work.
  2. Leave Max file size at 48 KB, and JPEG as the output format, which gives the smallest files for photos.
  3. If the form also gives exact pixel dimensions, set them under Resize → Exact.
  4. Tap Process all and download — the size shown under each photo is the final file size, under 50KB.

Frequently asked questions

How do I reduce a photo to exactly 50KB?

Add it above and tap Process all — the target is preset to 48 KB. The tool lands as close under the limit as it can at the best possible quality; hitting an exact byte count isn't needed, since upload forms only check the maximum.

Why is the target 48 KB and not 50 KB?

Some sites count 1KB as 1,000 bytes and others as 1,024. 48 KB (49,152 bytes) passes under either reading of 50KB. You can change the number in the settings panel if you know exactly how your site counts.

My photo still won't go under 50KB — what can I do?

Make sure the output format is JPEG or WebP: PNG is lossless and often can't reach small targets. For very small targets, also reduce the pixel dimensions under Resize. The tool already shrinks dimensions automatically as a last resort.

Will compressing to 50KB make my photo blurry?

For a passport-style photo or signature, usually not noticeably. For a large, detailed photo, a target this small needs smaller dimensions, so it suits portal uploads better than prints.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. Compression runs entirely in your browser — your photos never leave your device. See the Privacy Policy.
