Frequently asked questions

Why is my JPG so much smaller than the PNG?

PNG is lossless, so it stores every pixel exactly. JPG uses lossy compression tuned for photos, discarding detail your eye barely notices — much smaller files for photographic images.

What happens to transparent backgrounds?

JPG can't store transparency, so transparent areas become a solid background. If you need to keep transparency, use WebP or keep the PNG.

Should I convert logos and screenshots with text to JPG?

Usually not — JPG can blur sharp edges and text. PNG or WebP suit graphics better; JPG is best for photos.

Can I convert a batch of PNGs at once?
