Official source: ssc.gov.in. Applies to the one-time registration and exam forms on ssc.gov.in (CGL, CHSL, MTS, GD, Steno and others). Recent SSC forms capture the photograph live through a webcam inside the application, so check whether your form asks for an upload or a live capture. Portals revise these numbers with each notification — check the latest notice before you submit.

How to resize a photo and signature for SSC

  1. Take a clear photo against a plain light background, and photograph or scan your signature on white paper.
  2. Tap Set tool for photograph above — it sets the KB target, JPEG output and pixel size.
  3. Add the file, tap the crop icon on its thumbnail, and frame it — the crop box is locked to the required shape.
  4. Tap Process all, check the final KB shown under the thumbnail is inside the range, and download. Repeat for each upload.

What is the SSC photo size?

Photograph: 3.5 × 4.5 cm, 20–50 KB, JPEG. Recent colour photo, plain light background, face clearly visible, no cap or sunglasses.

What is the SSC signature size?

4 × 2 cm, 10–20 KB, JPEG. Signature in black ink on white paper, cropped tight.

What if my file comes out below the minimum KB?

Very clean images (especially signatures on white paper) can compress below a portal's minimum. Switch the compression mode to Quality and raise it to 90–100, or increase the pixel size slightly, then process again.

Can I take the photo on my phone?

Yes — use daylight facing a window, stand in front of a plain light wall, and crop tightly. For signatures, sign on plain white paper and photograph it flat from directly above.

Are my photos and signature uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything is resized and compressed inside your browser — nothing is sent to a server. See the Privacy Policy.
