Official source: upsconline.gov.in. Applies to UPSC online applications (Civil Services, ESE, CDS, NDA and others). Recent notices also ask for the candidate's name and the date the photo was taken printed on the photograph, and for a photo no older than 10 days at the start of the application window. Portals revise these numbers with each notification — check the latest notice before you submit.

Nothing here yet — add photos above to get started.

Only helps if your background is already one plain color (e.g. a wall) — this is color-distance math, not real subject cutout, so it won't do anything useful against busy or textured backgrounds.

Frequently asked questions

What is the UPSC photo size?

Photograph: 350×350 to 1000×1000 px, 20–300 KB, JPEG. Recent colour photo, light background, face covering about three-quarters of the frame.

What is the UPSC signature size?

350×350 to 1000×1000 px, 20–300 KB, JPEG. Signature in black ink on white paper. Very clean scans can come out under 20KB — if so, raise the pixel size.

What if my file comes out below the minimum KB?

Very clean images (especially signatures on white paper) can compress below a portal's minimum. Switch the compression mode to Quality and raise it to 90–100, or increase the pixel size slightly, then process again.

Can I take the photo on my phone?

Yes — use daylight facing a window, stand in front of a plain light wall, and crop tightly. For signatures, sign on plain white paper and photograph it flat from directly above.

Are my photos and signature uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything is resized and compressed inside your browser — nothing is sent to a server. See the Privacy Policy.
